Krishna Gaur’s world of make-believe

Posted on: November 1, 2010

To live in a make-believe world, and expect the people also to do so, is no more the prerogative of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The BJP’s Krishna Gaur, who was elected Mayor of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) in December last year, is beating the chief minister in his own game. In Krishna Gaur’s make-believe world, Bhopal has been freed from the plastic garbage and the BMC is saving diesel worth Rs one crore every year.
She recently attended the 99th meeting of All-India Council of Mayors at Shimla where she was hardly noticed. But on return, she told a Hindi daily of Bhopal that the Mayors from other cities had taken a keen interest in the ‘rag pickers’ upliftment scheme’ initiated by the BMC to make the city free from of plastic garbage. Under the scheme, according to her, the plastic garbage is collected from all over Bhopal every day and is transported to a cement plant where it serves as the fuel for the plant.
Besides, the BMC has introduced the vehicle tracking system through which the diesel worth Rs one crore is saved every year.
The BMC, incidentally, is like a bottomless pit in which hundreds of crores of rupees received from the Centre and several foreign funding agencies for various schemes have gone, without even a single scheme having been completed in the past two decades.

Outright Perilous!

An egoist as the head of the government is bad enough. An egotist is a nuisance as his constant chant of I…, I…., I….. jars on the listeners’ years. But when he loses touch with the reality and starts believing his imaginary achievements to be his real achievements, that’s outright perilous.
