Meat production up in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh

Posted on: March 8, 2010

Atal Behari Vajpayee is perhaps the only prominent BJP leader who would relish non-veg dishes publicly and get away with it. Otherwise, the BJP members frown upon those who eat non-vegetarian food; most of them are vegetarian by choice and the few who take non-veg food do so stealthily.
But the BJP apparently does not mind if others eat meat and it is even prepared to come to their help by making meat in greater quantities available to them, as the Madhya Pradesh government has done. According to the Economic Survey presented to the Assembly, the meat production in the State more then doubled during the BJP rule — from 16,000 metric tonnes in 2004-5 to 34,200 MT in 2008-9. The egg production, too, showed an increase till 2007-8 (from 90.23 crore to 97.47 crore) but declined to 67.15 crore in the last year because of the Bird Flue, the Survey says.
The milk production has not seen the same phenomenal rise as the meat. It has merely gone up from 53.99 lakh MT in 2004-5 to 68.55 lakh MT in 2008-9.

Value of propaganda

Adolf Hitler believed in the use of propaganda as an integral element to seizing and holding on to political power. His maxim was 'the bigger the lie, the more easily it will be believed, provided it is repeated vigorously and often enough'. (Sean Murphy in his book 'Letting the Side Down')
